Amira was born with Smith Magenis Syndrome and must work to overcome severe scoliosis and low muscle strength. At age two, she could not walk or crawl. The BREAK Team designed, built, and installed a remote controlled cattle watering system for Bret Fitzpatrick, a Kansas rancher who uses a wheelchair. He previously needed assistance hauling water to cattle in the winter. Bret declared it a success. Thanks to Kansas AgrAbility and Assistive Technology for Kansans for helping coordinate the project.
David Hosch was injured in a car accident as a teen and is now a wheelchair user. He found a love for kayaking, but needed assistance launching and loading his kayak. The new wheelchair accessible train car for the Spirit of Wamego means that ALL children and their families can enjoy a free ride on the city train.
